FoodTools began in 1983 with a single automated machine designed to cut cheesecakes and place paper Divider Inserts between each slice. Today we have more than 20 frozen cake cutting machine models that can portion a few cheesecakes per week in a corner bakery to more than 1,000 products per hour in large scale food processing plants. No matter your production size or portioning needs, if you’re looking to automate your frozen cake cutting process we have a solution for you.

FROZEN ROUND PRODUCTS

The standalone single station round cake cutting machine was the beginning of our business but over the past four decades we’ve grown with the industry and today our complete line ranges from an economical foot pedal machine to fully automated inline systems. Each step up offers additional automation, delivering increased speeds to production lines with room to grow.

Small Production

The CS-1FP is a small, economical, completely manual machine that is a great entry level option for bakeries cutting a few frozen cakes per day up to 50 products per hour. The operator manually loads the cake on the product holder, moves it into the machine, places Divider Inserts into the paper feeder, presses the foot pedal down to operate the cutting blade, and indexes the product holder to the next position to make each slice.

For bakers needing a bit more speed the CS-1A uses a pneumatically operated blade while the rest of the process is still managed manually, cutting up to 100 products per hour. The CS-4AAC is our first option with full cutting and indexing automation as cakes without Divider Inserts can be turned and sliced automatically up to 150 products per hour. If a bakery is using the CS-4AAC with Divider Inserts the papers are still fed into the machine by hand in a cycle that is not fully automatic.

Midsize Production

For midsized production facilities the CS-1000 and CS-2100 series offer advanced automation including automated sheet or roll fed Divider Insert systems and can achieve speeds up to 350+ products per hour. Cakes are still manually loaded and unloaded on the machines but the rest of the process is done automatically.

The CS-1000 uses a single cutting station with automated slicing, indexing, and Divider Insert loading. One operator can manage multiple machines by loading a cake on the product holder, pressing the start button, and moving on to another machine during the slicing cycle. Once the cake is portioned the product holder returns, the cake is removed, and the next unsliced cake is loaded and sent into the process.

The CS-2100 Series features two product holders allowing an operator to unload and load one product holder while the other cake is being sliced inside the machine. Rotating two product holders eliminates the downtime of loading and unloading a single product holder, offering virtually continuous cutting.

Large Production

Standalone solutions still require an operator to load and unload each machine each cycle, but for increased throughput in large scale production facilities an inline system is required. Our ACCUSLICE™ inline series reduces the number of equipment operators necessary and increases the throughput of the portioning process. One operator loads the products onto the machine’s conveyor belt and the cakes are indexed into the machine, positioned at the cutting stations, sliced, and once completed are conveyed out of the machine for manual racking or inline downstream processing.

ACCUSLICE™ inline machines are essentially built to order and include a conveyor indexing system, two to four cutting stations, and optional roll fed Divider Insert add-ons. Depending on the cake product, cut pattern, and chosen options, ACCUSLICE™ inline machines can cut up to 1,000 cakes or more per hour.

FROZEN SHEET PRODUCTS

While frozen round cake cutting is in our roots we’ve expanded our offerings from round cakes to sheet products and more. Many of the proven technologies for round slicing machines are used in sheet portioning solutions that cut a wide variety of brownies, bars, layer cakes, loaf products, Swiss rolls, and more.

Our sheet product portioning machines come in a progression of small, midsize, and large scale processing solutions.

Small Production

For smaller bakeries or production lines we offer half sheet and full sheet semi-automatic solutions. The CS-RS is our smallest sheet slicer and is designed to cut half sheets with manual indexing and pneumatic cutting. Program strips and product holders dictate the cut pattern while the operator manually indexes the platform into and out of the machine. The CS-RS can also slice round cakes semi-automatically and includes a manual paper Divider Insert system, making it a versatile machine for small to mid-sized bakeries cutting both round and sheet products, portioning up to 100 half sheets per hour.

The CS-10TFWA is our base level full sheet slicer and features pneumatic cutting with manual hand crank indexing. The program strips and product holder deliver consistent and accurate slices while the operator manually indexes the product through the machine cycle with a hand crank. This slicer is great for small bakeries cutting up to 100 full sheets per hour.

Midsize Production

For bakeries needing a bit more throughput our midsize solutions combine automated cutting and indexing with manual loading and unloading. The CS-10TWWA is similar to the CS-10TFWA but replaces the hand crank indexing system with automatic indexing. This allows the operator to load the sheet product into the machine, press start, and prepare the next sheet or move the previous sheet downstream while the current product is being sliced. Depending on the product and cut patten the CS-10TWWA can cut 120 cakes or more per hour.

For more control over the cut patterns and indexing the ACCUSLICE-10MX replaces the pneumatic indexing of previous machines with servo driven platform and product holder controls. This upgrade gives the baker or production manager absolute control over cut patterns, recipes, and settings to fine-tune the portioning process. Depending on the product and cut pattern up to 150 products can be portioned per hour.

Each of the previous machines use a single stainless steel blade to slice frozen cake products, but some products depending on the temperature and makeup can be cut with the CS-10E using custom x & y axis bladesets. The advantage of a bladeset is that blade drops are only made in one direction of platform pass, reducing the overall cycle time for each portioned sheet. This unique cutting solution can slice up to 150 products per hour.

Large Scale Production

For truly large sheet production facilities an inline system is needed. Inline conveyor fed machines allow processing plants to employ 1 to 3 operators to achieve 300+ portioned sheets per hour. ACCUSLICE™ inline sheet solutions are designed for specific customer’s specs and include a conveyor indexing system, one or two cutting stations, and options such as in-the-box cutting, edge trim removal, and takeaway conveyors.

FRESH PRODUCTS

This list highlights our frozen cake cutting machines but we’ve also developed a complete line of ambient and fresh cake cutting machines. The ACCUSONIC™ line uses ultrasonic technology with a titanium blade vibrating at 20kHz, so fast that fresh, sticky, and delicate products do not stick to it, making clean cuts in fresh round and sheet products.

The ACCUSONIC™ line includes round or sheet slicing machines, some that portion both, options for Divider Insert add-ons, and even a line of robotic ultrasonic cutting systems. Review our fresh round cake cutting line and fresh sheet cake cutting line if you portion both frozen and fresh products in your bakery.
