BakingTech 2016 - FoodTools

Each February the baking industry descends on Chicago, Illinois for an event called BakingTech. This year more than 1,300 industry professionals attended 30 innovative technical presentations and met with more than 200 equipment and ingredient suppliers at ASB’s MarketPlace. FoodTools representatives were in attendance for BakingTech 2016 to meet with clients, share industry advances, and attend leadership meetings with BEMA and ASB.

BAKINGTECH 2016 REVIEW

The week started off with BEMA Committee meetings discussing topics such as membership, marketing, and safety & sanitation, highlighting many good things in the works for BEMA in the coming year. The organization is dedicated to supporting the baking industry by bringing together equipment manufacturers and suppliers and FoodTools is a proud member of the association.

One comment that we heard while walking from meeting to meeting was I LOVE BREAD! BEMA has teamed up the Grain Foods Foundation in effort to promote the love for bread and that grains are an essential part of a healthy diet. Check out the Grain Foods Foundation social media pages to get involved.

ASB had some really good speakers who touched on everything from eating trends to dust mitigation to organizational leadership. Bakers benefit greatly from attending these sessions and they are typically a highlight from the event. At the end of each day ASB’s MarketPlace was held in the hotel meeting rooms. It is always a good exhibition that allows us to meet with bakers, customers and network among other professionals in the industry.

This is going to be a big year for FoodTools and the organizations involved with the “Best Week in Baking”. Now that BakingTech 2016 is complete we are all turning our attending to the next big North American industry event, IBIE 2016 (www.ibie2016.com). See you in Las Vegas!
